I Want to Log in to My NFA Desktop

Applies to: Nerdio for Azure (NFA) Professional and Enterprise (RDS).

Refer this KB article to determine if you are a NFA user.

Use RDP file

As a NFA user, you should have received a RDP file via email or may have the RDP file already placed on your local desktop. RDP stands for Remote Desktop Protocol and is a common way to connect to Windows desktops. Simply double-click the RDP file, enter your password and click OK to connect to your NFA desktop. (Mac users - you will need to install RD client first. See instructions below.)

You can request the RDP file from your IT administrator. They will generate a customized RDP file for you and assist you in placing the file on your local desktop.

The RDP file includes five default settings. You can ask your IT administrator to change any of these defaults before generating the customized RDP file -

  1. Use local printers when logged in to Nerdio desktop
  2. Allow copy-paste between local and Nerdio desktops
  3. Allow audio from Nerdio desktop to play locally
  4. Allow local microphone to work on Nerdio desktop
  5. Do not allow access to local drives from Nerdio desktop

Nerdio Tip

  • RDP files are customized based on the user's RDSH server and username. You cannot use another NFA user's RDP file.
  • RDP files work only if your local desktop is a Windows computer or a Windows tablet. For other devices, see below.
