I Want to Use My Scanner to Scan some Important Project Specific Documents. How Do I Go About Using It?

Easy enough. Nerdio desktops work with network-based scanners and locally attached scanners.

The best way to scan from a network-based scanner is “Scan to email”. Another way to scan via a network-based scanner is directly to a file folder. This second option is a little more technically challenging. It requires a site-to-site VPN connection between the local office (where the scanner is located) and Nerdio.

Locally attached scanners can be used but it’s always better to use network scanners:

• A USB attached scanner can be used by directly connecting the USB device to the Nerdio desktop on Windows and Mac devices. This is done by clicking on the Connect USB device menu on the top connection bar. Navigate your cursor to the top of the desktop and you will see the connection bar drop down. This method requires drivers for the scanner to be installed on Nerdio desktop. The disadvantage of this method is a slowdown in scanning speed especially with some models.
• USB attached scanner that use the TWAIN standard can be redirected to the Nerdio desktop without connecting the USB device directly. This does not require a driver to be installed and is built in and automatic. When going to select a scanner from list of available scanners on the Nerdio desktop the local scanner should appear as an option. If it doesn’t, check the scanner redirection icon in the system tray of the Nerdio desktop.
